Goddamn Dumba**es

If you find any of these questions "unanswerable" or difficult, I've got some bad news for you...

http://www.bored.com/crazythoughts/

Should provide entertainment of sorts for bit though.

P.S. I didn't copy and paste because I didn't want to read them again.

Christmas - God = Still Christmas

I'm an atheist and if I want to celebrate Christmas I will.
Although the Christmas we all know is rife with Christianity, it originates from Pagan tradition. One of these, and arguably the most important, is the date.
The bible does not state when Jesus was born, however historians believe he was probably born around September (it is unlikely he was born during winter and survived). The feast of the son of Isis was held on this day however; drinking, eating, and gift-giving were done during this festival (so we're not so different from the Pagans after all huh?). Also the winter solstice was celebrated in Rome well before Jesus' birth.
Pope Julius I declared that christmas was this day, most likely to make it easier for pagans to convert to Catholicism.
The tree was a symbol many people used to remind them that their crops would grow again.
Anywho, the modern X-mas we know today (most likely) comes from Germany. The first recorded decoration of a tree in celebration of J.C's birth was in 1521 in Germany.
But if you don't believe me search it on google or whatever you use and get over it. You tell me I'm not supposed to celebrate this holiday because it's celbrating an idea I don't believe in, but when someone doesn't celebrate it they're instantly condemned for being evil or whatever the hell it is you judge people who don't agree with you wholeheartedly as.
Merry Birth of Santa.
(Even though it's the 26th here).

Evil Visited Today: II

On a related note to the CT shooting, we can not also forget that a man in China stabbed 22 children in a primary school (elementary school for the American readers) over in Henan province, China.

Too many children died yesterday.

Evil Visited Today

Even though I am a New Zealander I feel deeply for the families of those twenty school children in Newtown, Connecticut, U.S.A.
I can not imagine the deep hurt inflicted upon the community. Like many have already stated online and on the news, I cannot fathom such a tragedy. The parents who will never tuck their children in at night again, the one less plate to fill at meal times; the gifts that they will have to return or give away. This season, meant to fill our hearts and minds with joy and familial reunification will perpetually resonate sorrow and heartbreak. That is unimaginable.
We should not, however, dwell upon the broken and shameful individual. Someone that sick does not deserve our attention and hatred; only pity. He was a coward. He was a depraved coward who preyed upon those poor individuals and I pity him for that. It may sound redundant but what about his family? This family will potentially be hated for what this one person has done. He's cursed his family.
You may have the right to bear arms, but you have no right to take lives.
The way I see it, if this event does not force you to take a good hard look at yourselves, you will never change. How many innocent lives must be taken before a change is made?

However, just remember;
"The number of hugs per gunshot is very high... Humanity is good. Some people are terrible and broken, but humanity is good. I believe that." -Hank Green

So Goddamned Frustrating

About "Attention Seeker's" post;
So here's a little update on the front.
How is it she frustrates me more when we don't talk?!
I'm paranoid whenever I login to Facebook, to check my messages or just scroll down to amuse myself for a bit, that she'll be on and she'll start taking to me. All conversations with her start off normal, heck you wouldn't even know if she hadn't told you, but one way or another she slips her feelings into it, or whatever conclusion she's come to about her life or sex life. Sometimes she's blurted it out without warning.
I really don't want to talk to her because, as un-medically backed as this claim is, her categorical "funk" is contagious. I'm paranoid, getting more and more depressed (well not depressed, but less happy day by day), and I'm not getting as much sleep. You see most people pull all-nighters for reasons: workers, students, gamers; me? nope, just couldn't sleep (the fact that I have no more school may contribute to that a bit mind you :/ ).
Pretty sure she's still alive btw. A friend said she talked to her the other day (although only briefly).
It's just so goddamned frustrating.

Worst Thing to Happen? Ever?!

I understand many people may dislike this, or disagree with it or whatever, however I am inclined to not care.

The holocaust/the Nazi regime/Hitler, was not the worst thing to happen ever.

Confession Time

I feel like you should all get to know me a bit more, so here's a secret of mine.
There was once this guy who came to our school a few years back and wanted to promote religion (my school doesn't offer a religious education programme as the principle values equality (but not too far from my school there's a Catholic high-school) and he gave away these small bibles. At the break (that day or some other day I can't remember) a friend, who had a lighter, and I burned them. Till they were all gone.
I guess being atheist wasn't enough for me huh?

Previous Post

Srry about the swearing in the last post, I don't tend to swear. It's just some people don't know how good there life truly is. There was a million other things I wanted to say but I felt it was getting too long.

Attention Seekers

You are not depressed; you have a good life.
Grow a pair (even though you're a girl) and get over it.
You don't want to kill yourself and talking to someone to get help isn't too difficult, as you are currently talking to me and a million other people about it. Get some help if your so damn depressed.
The only good talking to us about your issues is complaining and venting so if you actually want to get past this, and feel like the person you "portray yourself as," talk to someone who is qualified, because I'm over it. The only reason you don't want to get help is because it will mean actually having to do something about your issues, instead of wallowing in them.
At first I had sympathy for you, hell I stayed up till after 1 in morning talking with you to help you. However, as the week went on I realised something: you weren't listening to me. I could suggest something to you in order to help you but you would shoot it down by saying how hard you life is or how dark everything seems.
I am sick and I am tired of you taking away my happiness in order to satisfy your need to be heard and your need to tell everything everything so you can perhaps have a moment of mass sympathy, and consequently popularity.
If you don't want people to call you a slut then firstly, stop acting like one, secondly, don't tell people about how you were "so embarrassed" about how you got really drunk and started making out with some guy you don't even know - which brings me right back to the first point. If it hurts, don't tell me, just stop fucking, don't say how your not looking forward to the next time, because, and here's a novel idea, don't let there be a next time.
It is a phase, I know this because every single normal teenager on this planet has been through it (minus the sex/drinking/partying for me ('cause I'm boring)). You aren't some special thing that is all alone in the world, YOU ARE A FUCKING TEENAGER, for fuck sakes.

You don't seem to realise that the more you complain, and whine, and steal our happiness without regard and conscience, the less of a fuck we give about you lack thereof.
So actually get professional help, or the only thing you'll get from me is the cold shoulder.

Death of A God

A prose/poem. Take from it what you will.
--

Time passes as flowers wilt,
But you ambition is strong as ever.
But at what cost?
Must the white road be drenched in
Your dead innocence to satisfy your lust for power?
The comfort of you childhood is spat on,
Is lost and forgotten by you.
You killed you family and yourself.
For what purpose? How many must die
Before you realise nothing will change?
You will rot in the ground with your ancestors
As everybody lives on as they did,
With the large looming shadow of death
Shrouding their pale forms.
Your passion,
Your ambition,
Your power,
Change
Nothing.

Film Editing

Sorry if this non-political, non-religious, non-rant is not your cup of tea, but I  feel like I need to write more, and believe it or not I don't have that much hatred for my fellow man as my previous posts may suggest.

So today I will be editing a short film in German. Our teacher signed up us for a competition; an "es war einmal..." (German equivalent of "once upon a time") theme. I have yet to see the footage, but based on what people on facebook have been saying, it should be interesting... Very interesting indeed *strokes metaphorical beard*.

It stars animals... Yeah.

Age doesn't matter

I may be 18 years of age but that does not mean I know what “skuxx is.” Or the cultural significance of “nek minnit.”

I go to school and I plan on actually finish it. This does not mean I am “squandering” my youth. You may have made bad choices and thus could not hang out with your friends. However, this does not mean that I wish to go clubbing with mine, or more precisely with one of my friends and her friends that I do not know. I enjoy going to school.

Now, why would I enjoy going to school instead of having a social life? Because going to school, and being among my friends who share dreams of going and doing what we love, fills me with hope that not everyone my age wishes to squander their youths drinking and partying. That even though I may not do any extra curricular activities, that I will end up better than you, and I won’t have to rely on others to support my pointless lifestyle.

In life one must choose: social life, or successful life. The social life means popularity and apparently now it means becoming famous. However the path of success allows one to travel the paths of some of the greatest people who ever existed: Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, Leonardo de Vinci, Plato, Just to name a very small few. You would have a chance at changing the world, or at least your chosen field. You will not have to live with the thought that you are the plague of modern society, walking the putrid path of those like Snooki, Paris Hilton and some other names of people I don’t know.

I am an introvert and happily so. I am not soft just because I don’t want to go clubbing and/or drinking, so don’t tell me to “harden the f**k up.”

You are not my superiors. You are simply SLAVES to this materialistic world in which we exist.

"You are pitiful isolated individuals; you are bankrupts; your role is played out. Go where you belong from now on / into the dustbin of history!" (Leon Trotsky).

I may be 18, but I am NOT a teenager.

I do not have a tattoo.

I do not have a tattoo.

I have no desire to ever get a tattoo.

This does not mean I wish to persecute anyone who does.

I say this because recently on my wall on Facebook® many of my "friends" have shared pictures consisting of two shots of one person, in one of the pictures is this person wearing  suit or looking formal and in the other shot is the same person with a short sleeved top, allowing their tattoos to show. Superimposed on these pictures is a phrase, that suffice it to say complain against "the man" and his hatred of tattooed people.

I am an introvert and thus do not have any first-hand knowledge of this, so I can see where both sides are coming from. If someone has a tattoo that doesn't mean that they are a bad person. Bad people are bad people, regardless of their skin.

If someone has a tattoo that does not merit the discrimination against them that they clearly feel. However if those tattoos represent political or religious views or are culturally insensitive then by all means discriminate away, but do not bring petty little opinions into the workplace or school environment.

That being said, if you have a tattoo do not feel as if that gives you an excuse to be an attention seeker looking for sympathy and/or "likes" from like-minded or sympathetic people. This does not necessarily help your cause, it only breeds strong negative emotional reactions from both sides of the argument.

If you go or have gone to a school/country in which the schools must wear a uniform you will perhaps understand. Behaving or looking a certain way will impair the image of the school; for example at my high school one is not allowed to have unnatural hair colours, even strong red (not ginger-red but red-red), will get you stopped by the principle and you will get told to dye your hair to a more suitable colour. That is simply an example, however it is the general principle of this idea which I am trying to portray.

An interviewer would presumably higher a tattoo-less person over a tattooed person because, although not inherently a bad characteristic, it would bring down the image of the firm as tattoos are generally classified as unprofessional. The discrimination you may feel towards you because of your tattoos is a conformation of either one or two things:
 1. people are still closed minded despite this being the 21st century (as I expressed in my previous post).
 2. you are one of these closed minded people and others are responding to you/your attitude and using your tattoos as a point of reference.

Do not think that because someone has a tattoo that they are not worthy of whatever you are offering. Inversely, just because you have a tattoo that does not mean every member of society thinks you are the scum of the earth...

To. Nobody in Particular

You say you're open-minded; you say you're not a racist. But you also say you don't want us Maori to to "shove" our culture down your throat because it is not your culture and you shouldn't have to know anything about it.
If you're not a racist, you're sure as hell a bigot.

You cannot argue issues of culture, tradition and morality with facts and politics. Many people have spent many years trying to separate the two, and here you can't even tell the difference. "We think too much and feel too little" (Charlie Chaplin in the Great Dictator(1940)).

Many Maori, not in my generation but the one previously, have seemed to realise that they can actually be Maori without being persecuted. They understood that we can speak our language now, we understand that we have red blood, NOT GREEN like my mother
was taught at school. My mother for crying out loud!

A lot of the Maori you have a problem with, most, if not all, older Maori would have a problem with as well. Maori having a King and/or Queen was and is in the eyes of older Maori (including me) insulting. The closest thing Maori can have to leader is a chieftain or chieftainess. We were never one people; we were a collection of tribes making up one race.

In the eyes of Maori, traditional that is and not one of these politicians or activists who have gotten used to the luxury of modern living and have lost the way, we are as a good friend
(Australian-Samoan) of mine said put it, "guardians" of the land. In the Maori culture, land is not a commodity to be bought or sold. Money is MEANINGLESS. We have, in our eyes, a responsibility over the land, to take care of it: kaitiakitanga (Guardianship, protection, preservation or sheltering. Managing the environment, based on the traditional Māori world view(Māori world view: Māori believe there is a deep kinship between humans and the natural world. All life is connected, and people are NOT SUPERIOR to the natural order but they are part of it. Like some other indigenous cultures, Māori see humans as part of the web or fabric of life)).

"Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed." (Charlie Chaplin in the Great Dictator(1940)). This is how the Maori you have a problem with are like. But remember, we are not one people, we are one in race and somewhat language (each tribe has their own dialect), and colour (again, each tribe used to have a distinct colour), but we are NOT ONE PEOPLE.

So you may think you're not racist, but if you only listen to what your parents told you, or what the media tells you, you're not racist, you're ignorant.

“Where ignorance is our master, there is no possibility of real peace.” (Dalai Lama).

You call for peace between Maori and Pakeha, the blood of both of which runs through my veins, 50/50; but you will never reach this goal if you continually choose to wallow in the stench of your own ignorance...
